What are Business Units?
Business units denote different locations/facilities and departments owned by a company on MIMOSI. A user may change which business unit they are currently acting on behalf of, allowing them to see which of their items are stored in which location or department, and adding a layer of inter-company transparency to the Geo-traces MIMOSI provides. Business units have separate inventories, and a user can only act on behalf of one business unit at a time.
Companies setup business units when internal tracking is required. For example, a food company may wish to track items from unit to unit to understand dwell times, billing activities, or to identify internal responsible areas.
